Job Description

Flame Health Optometry are seeking an Optometrist to work as an Optical Training Expert on a fixed term contract of 6 to 9 months, on behalf of one of the leading providers of Ophthalmic Lens technology.

Purpose of the Job:

The Optical Training Expert will professionally support the global Headquarter team located in Germany to develop high-standard training materials for internal education and customer training.

Specific responsibilities:
- Review and adjust the proposed training topics to educate internal company employees and external customers in the field of optics
- Create detailed briefing materials for trainings on optical science including ideas and/or drafts regarding the usage of pictures and graphics
- Structure and provide information according to different target groups and knowledge level (from basic for people without optical background to expert for ophthalmologists)
- Usage of an easy to understand language and professional definition of technical terms

Key Competencies:

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
A proven expertise in dispensing & optometry, with commitment to professional development in all aspects of the profession (aligned to the GOC core competencies). Being able to explain theoretical topics in an easy-to-understand and interesting/entertaining way. Being able to take the perspective of a new starter and their specific needs & knowledge level.

PLANNING & ORGANISATION
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, setting priorities and meeting deadlines. Ability to manage time to progress multiple simultaneous projects. Ability to create work packages and continuously provide results and progress.

Required Knowledge & Experience:

Must Have:
- Recent tenure as an Optometrist & current GOC registration
- Ability to create training materials in an easy to understand way and also on a basic level although being an expert for the topic him/herself
- Independent workstyle and ability for self-organization
- Project management, break down of an extensive project into simple work packages; continuous result delivery

Desired:
- Masters or PhD qualification.

Deselection Criteria

- Absence of any key competencies & requirements stated above
- Suspension / removal from GOC register
- Poor optical knowledge / experience
- Low ability to work independently and structure the own tasks
- Poor references.

Package

Salary: Fixed prices for the different work topics/packages. To be paid when delivered.
Or a fixed monthly salary can be arranged.
