Flame Health Optometry Jobs - Operations Manager (Opticians) - London

Our client is an Independent chain of Opticians looking for an enthusiastic Operations Manager with a can do attitude to join their team.

The candidate will work as an ambassador for the managing director promoting the company’s culture and values. (Excellence, responsibility, passion, education, professionalism, integrity, team-work, leadership)

The role involves coordinating the operations of our stores and overseeing a growing trade business. This includes managing employees, overseeing Health & Safety and supervising other operations throughout the business.

The role will suit a candidate who possesses excellent organisational and communication skills; who is comfortable in making decisions and working with own initiative and respecting the need for overall confidentiality (being privy to sensitive information).

You should be excellent in prioritising your workload and various needs of others, often working with tight deadlines.

Operation requirements to include:

  • Liaising with 13 managers from 13 different branches
  • Supporting general operations
  • Ensuring company procedures are followed
  • Ensuring standard health & safety regulations are followed and acted upon when necessary
  • Dealing with product suppliers; negotiating orders release and completion
  • Serving as a connection point between suppliers and accounts department
  • Visiting branches on a regular basis to meet with managers and ensure staff running correctly
  • Managing and negotiating individual service contracts for 13 branches
  • Organising quarterly managers meeting
  • Organising staff training when needed
  • Developing and implementing operational controls
  • Overseeing the performance of individual employees
  • Overseeing key performance indicators
  • Ordering stationery supplies

Administration requirements to include:

  • Directing telephone calls
  • Preparing documents, agendas, and briefing notes for meetings
  • Personnel and human resources administration
  • Negotiating with utility and general service suppliers, and managing contract renewals
  • Reviewing invoices to be paid, making sure pricing agreements have been respected


  • Good management and leadership
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good analytical and observation skills
  • Must be well organized
  • Computer literate (Microsoft office suite)
To apply for this position you must have previous experience of working within the optical industry. A strong background within leadership and management, preferably multi-site would be an advantage.
